Very Few of Us Ever Dreamt of Having Careers in Psychology

When we are children we tend to dream about what we will do as adults. The many careers that we choose are one like police officers, school teachers, doctors, astronauts, cowboys and movie stars. While these tend to be childhood dreams that some of us follow, others will go into completely different directions. I am sure that very few of you ever dreamed of having a career in psychology. This is a career that performs an invaluable service to the world. Before we go any further you should understand that we are talking about psychology and not psychiatrics. In psychology the way that people think, behave and feel is explored. This study of human behavior and nature is conducted groups, communities, as single individuals and as organizations. Psychiatrics on the other hand deal with the emotional aspects of a mentally disordered person. The help that is given by these professionals can give a stable platform for many of these people to begin their lives. While this sounds very similar to psychology there are profound differences.
